I came to Discover Church from a dry and thirsty land as I’m sure many others have as well. It is cool waters to a thirsty soul for me.
I LOVE this new series that Jernigan is preaching, “How to Train an Elephant.” The mind is the battleground! I’d say! We can easily think our thoughts are our own, when in fact, sometimes it is the enemy.
Right after this series began, I was telling someone a story. When they walked off, the first thought that entered my mind was, “Oh look at you, that story didn’t even make sense. You’re probably bothering them!”
This thought seemed 100% real! Now mind you, this person had never done or said anything to validate this. Actually they had always affirmed their love and appreciation for me. This thought was different than what I had experienced before. It was all based on feelings alone. It was a sneak attack. You would have thought I would have immediately recognized it, but this familiar lie from the enemy was packaged different than others before.
In the series, “How to Train an Elephant,” Jernigan reminded us our enemy came to steal, kill, and destroy! His goals are to divide, or better yet, drive us out of the church. He is quite tricky as we know, and will try anything to see us personally miserable & powerless.
But our God is my victory. He clearly revealed the lie to me, broke those chains, and set me free. This is my victory dance in words. He is my Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God! He fights for me, teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight! He is my great deliver!
I’m so grateful to be in a church that prepares us for battle.
